Greetings from the fun and fabulous city of New Orleans where I’m settling Week 1 of WICKED at The Mahalia Jackson Theater.
It’s exciting to see how theatre in New Orleans has been able to come back since Hurricane Katrina (The 24th Annual Tennesee Williams Festival is in full swing as I type this), and by the looks of things, theatre here is only going to get hotter! The “new” Mahalia Jackson has been up and running now since January 2009, and The Saenger Theater is currently undergoing renovations and scheduled to re-open in 2011, and, as you might imagine, there are many theaters here producing and presenting on a smaller scale, including Le Petit Theatre and Le Chat Noir that are very popular.
In my previous post, I listed some of the markets that announced their 2010-2011 seasons. Right after I wrote that post, wouldn’t you know that New Orleans announced their 2010-2011 season. Click here to see what the folks in The Big Easy will be getting at The Mahalia Jackson in 10-11.
